The Ceremony of the Keys, Dah-ling.

Ceremony

Getting something for nothing is always an exciting time — clothing, events, food; I love it all. Being that free is one of my most favorite words, you know that I was beyond thrilled to discover loads of amazing (and 100% free) things to do on a student budget.  One thing that I am definitely putting on my list: The Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. This ceremony is a 700+ year old tradition wherein the Tower, which houses the Crown Jewels, is locked up each and every night. Best of all — the tickets are absolutely free! You do have to follow the proper procedure: send them a letter two to three months in advance requesting tickets for up to six persons. Names of all individuals have to be noted and a self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included (so I guess you do have to pay for stamps, but that’s it!)

The ceremony starts at 930P and ends at 1005P, at which time all visitors are escorted out.

To request a spot on any given night, post your application to:

Ceremony of the Keys Office
Tower of London
LONDON, EC3N 4AB
Great Britain
Tel: +44 (0)20 3166 6278

Jot down all individuals names plus two dates that could work for you (at least two months in advance)!

——

I’m going to post a letter in a couple of weeks.
Leave me a comment if you’re interested in joining & I’ll put your name on my application (first ten people)!
